On reddit.com this morning, I saw many people with proto-startups were looking for feedback, mentoring, or cofounders.
Of these, there are two that make stories that amuse at least me.
In each case the description of the startup was less than 10 words and insufficient for me to have even a vague guess as to what the companies might do.
To each, I send a direct message, saying, “I’d be interested in hearing more about your startup.”
From the first, I got an indignant, “where did you come from reply.”
From the second, I was told that details had been added to the comments. The details were just a URL to another social media platform post. That social media post had a pair of URLs. One to their website. The other to the Apple app store.
I’d like to believe that this is part of a brilliant plan to filter out people who have insufficient persistence.
Even though I’d like to believe it, somehow I can’t.
Perhaps if after reading the website and the app store pages I knew what the company did, it would be less of a stretch.
