Gratuitous Celebrations

I wanted to include the above image at the end of my “Engineering in the Face of Irreducible Uncertainty” article to celebrate survival and success through pivot avoidance.

But the picture put me past my length limit.

So instead I am placing it here to celebrate being able to include the picture without really writing another article.

It reminds me of an old joke.

Why did Douglas Hofstadter cross the road?

To make this joke possible.

Russell has started three successful companies, one of which helped agencies of the federal government become very early adopters of open source software, long before that term was coined. His first project saved The American taxpayer 250 million dollars. In his work within federal agency, he was often called, “the arbiter of truth,” facilitating historically hostile groups and factions to effectively work together towards common goals
