Practical Steps around ChatGPT

Regardless of whether it is a demon on angel, what do we do?

What do we actually do about ?

What do we do right now?

It’s a less exciting question than most are discussing.

Nature, one of the leading scientific journals in the world, is tackling this question head-on.

They have published clear sensible guidelines about assistance from and authorship by such systems.

  • Only humans can be listed as authors because only humans can take responsibility for their work.
  • The methods of using these AI assistants must be clearly enough described to be reviewed and replicated.

Other scientific publications are following suit.

I see this as an important first step for bringing order to the chaos.

But what are the next steps?
