Recently, two of my presumably many spelling mistakes we publicly pointed out in LinkedIn comments.
It doesn’t upset me.
But it does confuse me.
If someone would like them fixed, why not send a private message?
I had always been taught
“Praise Publicly, Correct Privately”
as being both courteous and effective.
Is it valuable for all the readers of the thread to spend a few moments of their lives reading a comment about a spelling mistake? Assuredly, there is better use for the reader’s time.
Perhaps commentators are angling for a job as proofreaders.
Perhaps they are trying to protect the world from my ever getting a proofreader.
It is a mystery to me.
I await enlightenment.
