I was trying to order more Marvel United superheroes (and of course supervillains).

For most of that universe, there is a normal per character rate. Count up the number of heroes plus villains, apply a discount for non-English versions, and you know the fair price.

I saw some bargains. 20% below nominal.

Then I saw the shipping fees (500 clicks later) which were larger than the objects themselves. Talk about a crime. Perhaps an entire criminal enterprise. Even intergalactic smugglers don’t charge that much when risking life and limb (or paying excessive bribes) in running blockades. Tabletop game components aren’t perishable or radioactive or even fragile. What gives?

This is insane. This criminal. This is unconscionable. Or at the very least this is very silly. All those wasted clicks. I don’t expect anyone is going to get a sale this way.

Is their plan to sell ads on their site on I’m there? Or gray market valium? Isn’t there a huge body of literature about the power of “free shipping offers?”

The only thing I hate more than petty villains is stupid petty villains.

For some sites I can sort on “price plus shipping” but in many contexts, like search engine results, I can’t.

Is there a browser plugin to simply hide these places? Is there a superhero out there that can save me?

There are #suckagereduction points up for taking.

I don’t even want a corrected total, I just don’t want to deal with petty villains. Especially stupid petty villains.

Fighting or even losing to supervillains would at least get me a cocktail party story, but conducting commerce with petty villains is just demeaning.
