Great Joy from Small Things

The perfect dinner

I had a truly hellish day.

The good news is that I have vanishing few of those. I should more deeply appreciate how rare they are.

The bad news is that I have vanishing little practice at dealing with such days and no established countermeasures.

Being unfit company for man or beast, I skipped a family dinner and went to happy hour at Shiki Bisto. I hadn’t been to a happy hour since before the pandemic. While I am not a drinker, I do love appetizers.

Everything was perfect. Each item was (at least seemingly) the best instance of it that I had in my life. Perhaps I should eat out whenever I am having a really bad day, and maybe this is the first step toward developing a countermeasure. (With a modicum of luck, it will be a long time before I get to test it.)

Today’s gratitude and baby animal face go out to the staff at Shiki.

If I were more generous of spirit, perhaps I would include all those who help me get into the right frame of mind to especially enjoy the food, but I’m not that evolved yet.
