In some companies friendships (or should I say fraternization) among workers are actively discouraged.
In other companies, they are incidentally discouraged by policies that pit employees against each other rather than promoting cooperation.
I have heard of companies where each year the lowest ranking employee is fired.
Gallup has recently published a report showing that there is a great benefit to encouraging friendships at work. Huge numbers.
So to be clear, companies are massively reducing their profits by making their employees less happy.
This isn’t greed. It’s stupidity.
Perhaps reading the Gallup report will help them take a step toward #suckagereduction.
